The laboratory of organic geochemistry performs the following types of analyzes:

  1. Determination of the content of methane (C1) and its homologues (C2-C5) in water and bottom sediments.
  2. Determination of the content of non-hydrocarbon gases in water and bottom sediments.
  3. Analysis of the elemental composition (C, H, N) of suspended matter, bottom sediments, sedimentary rocks.
  4. Determination of the content and molecular composition of the gasoline fraction of hydrocarbons HC (C10-C22) in the geological environment facilities (bottom sediments, sedimentary rocks, oils, bitumens, etc.)
  5. Determination of the content and composition of high-molecular hydrocarbons (n-alkanes, steranes, hopanes, PAHs) in the geological environment facilities (bottom sediments, sedimentary rocks, oils, bitumens, etc.)
  6. Express analysis of the content and composition of aromatic hydrocarbons by spectrofluorometry.

The laboratory was intercalibrated within the framework of international scientific projects in 1994, 2004 and accredited as a part of the Analytical Center of the All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources of the World Ocean named after academician I.S. Gramberg” (No. РОСС RU.0001.512785 dated September 15, 2006 and May 12, 2010)

The main areas of application of the obtained analytical data:

*

  1. Expert assessment of the environmental condition using the molecular markers of the hydrocarbon class (n-alkanes, isoprenoids, steranes, hopanes, PAHs)
  2. dentification of the natural and anthropogenic components and the environmental background level in the development of oil and gas resources in the water areas, construction of oil and gas pipelines, oil loading terminals, etc.
  3. Geochemical surveying and direct methods of oil and gas exploration works.
  4. Geochemical study of oil-source rocks and reservoir geochemistry:
    1. determination of the initial genetic type of organic matter,
    2. determination of the degree of catagenetic maturity of the kerogen
    3. facies environment of sedimentation
    4. biodegradation degree of DOM and oils
